Q. How much time is required to install the wireless messaging products? A. The entire range of wireless messaging solutions can be installed in less than 1 hour. Q. Are these products operational out of the box or is customization required? A. The Infinite Mobile Delivery (IMD) line of products includes out-of-the-box solutions and products that can be customized to meet specific needs. The email connector products (the Infinite Connector for Microsoft Exchange and Infinite Enterprise Mail Connector) require little to no customization, while the Infinite Open Data Connector can be configured to integrate with one or more enterprise databases. Q. Do users need to install software on their wireless device? A. There is no additional software required on the device. Access to messages and data is accomplished by simply accessing a different URL. Q. What if I am in an area where there is no wireless coverage and cannot get to the data I need? Is there any data stored on the device? A. There is no data stored directly on the device, and while it is true that your wireless carrier may not have coverage in every location, the areas of coverage are expanding rapidly. In addition, there are several benefits of not having data stored on the device: if the device is lost, your information is not lost with it, and you do not have to remember to synchronize information, as information is accessed in real-time. Q. How do the email connector products allow me to access my email from a wireless device? A. First, software must be installed on your network that accesses your mail server. Once this is completed, users simply type the URL address of the Infinite Enterprise Mail Connector server, using an Internet-enabled wireless device. Users will be prompted for their user-name and password and login to their email box in real-time, which means access to the most up-to-date information. Q. What level of wireless functionality is available with Microsoft Exchange and Lotus Notes? A. The Infinite Connector for Microsoft Exchange integrates seamlessly with the email application. You are able to send and receive email, access folders and address lists. In addition, Groupware functionality for Microsoft Exchange is included, which provides access and read/write capabilities to calendar, contacts and tasks. Using the Infinite Enterprise Mail Connector, access to the email Inbox through an IMAP configuration is employed. Q. Does the Infinite Connector for Microsoft Exchange and the Infinite Enterprise Mail Connector provide 2-way email capability? A. Yes, you can interact directly with your mailbox, performing all of the standard actions such as reading, replying to, forwarding, and deleting messages. All actions are carried out in real-time, with updates recorded immediately in your mailbox. Q. Will the Infinite Connector for Microsoft Exchange allow me to view my entire inbox, or am I limited to just new messages? A. You will be able to view and interact with your complete inbox, as well as your folders, calendars, task lists, and other common Exchange features. Q. Can I receive and view email attachments? A. Yes, you can receive attachments and view file extension names. The attachment can be forwarded to a fax machine for hard copy review. Q. Does Wireless Messaging Server Support Microsoft Exchange 2000? A. Yes. IMD Server v2.5 and higher include support for Microsoft Exchange 2000. Q. Can I voice reply to an email message instead of entering my message using the keypad? A. Voice reply is a standard option with the Infinite Voice Connector, an add-on module to the email connector products. In addition, most devices support "Word Mode" and "Quick Text" mode, which simplify keypad entry. Q. What is the difference between the wireless messaging products and the Infinite WAP Gateways? A. The IMD products and WAP Gateways are complementary product offerings. The IMD products provide wireless access to messages and data stored on a corporate network, without requiring companies to translate content to a wireless format. The WAP Gateway products are typically installed on the wireless carrier's premise and are necessary for providing their subscribers with access to WAP content. In addition, some enterprise customers are starting to deploy their own WAP gateways to provide an extra layer of security and control over their information. Q. Does IMD 2.5 work with Exchange 2000? A. Yes, with IMD version 2.5 you can access email messages, calendar information, contacts and tasks that are stored in Exchange 2000 or Exchange 5.5 systems. Q. Does IMD work with Microsoft's Active Directory? A. IMD allows user information to be imported into IMD from Active Directory, although if any users are added to Active Directory at a later time, they must then be manually added to IMD. Q. Can I update contact and calendar information from IMD? A. Yes, with IMD 2.5 you can edit, delete and create contact and calendar information from your mobile device. This includes initiating meeting requests, adding new contacts as a result of a sales call, declining meeting notices, etc. IMD 2.5 supports full read / write access to all email messages and your PIM. Q. Does IMD allow me to access the Exchange Global Address List (GAL), or only my personal Outlook contacts? A. With IMD 2.5 you can access all address book information including the GAL and Outlook contacts. In addition, you can automatically look-up a contact in the GAL, locate a person's phone number, and select the number to initiate a phone call (from a mobile phone). This feature provides you with the most up-to-date and full-range of contact information including personal contacts, employees, suppliers, and customers while on the road. Simply select "Address Book" from the main IMD menu, and then choose the GAL or Outlook contacts.
Q. What types of wireless devices are supported? A. The IMD products are compatible with virtually all types of devices including Internet-enabled mobile phones, 2-way pagers, or wireless-enabled Palm , IPAQ or Pocket PC devices. This allows businesses who have a variety of devices already deployed to benefit from the IMD products. Q. How do I access IMD from my Pocket PC? A. With IMD version 2.5, you can access your email messages, contacts and calendar information directly from your wireless Pocket PC device. It's as simple as browsing a website. • Go to Pocket Internet Explorer • Enter the URL address for IMD, which your IT Manager will provide to you. • Follow the URL address by a slash "/" and the word "mobile," for example:

To access your email: • Go to the Web Browser on your Palm • Enter the URL address for IMD, which your IT Manager will provide to you • Follow the URL address by a slash "/" and the word "mobile," for example:
As soon as you access this site, enter your standard login name and password to access your email. Q. Do I need to install a WAP browser on my Pocket PC or Palm device? A. You do not need to install any extra software on you PDA. As long as you have a wireless modem attached to the device, you can access IMD from Pocket Internet Explorer for Pocket PC, or any standard Web Browser on Palm devices. Q. Can I use Pocket Outlook on my Pocket PC to access IMD? A. You should use Pocket Internet Explorer to access IMD, which is the standard web browser on the device. Pocket Outlook can still be used to synchronize email and other information to the device, while Pocket Internet Explorer allows you to access your messages and calendar information in real-time. Q. What are the voice enhancements in 2.5? A. IMD includes new text-to-speech features that allow users to listen to their email messages from their mobile phone. The new L&H™ RealSpeak™ Text To Speech Engine allows users to "hear" their email messages in a natural-sounding voice. With RealSpeak™, users have the flexibility to switch between viewing their messages in text on the device and listening to these messages while on the move. Q. How do I get access to RealSpeak™? A. RealSpeak™ is an optional add-on feature to the Infinite Voice Connector. Once installed, the IT Manager selects "RealSpeak™" from a drop-down box in the IMD administration module and all users will automatically have access to the new text-to-speech features. If RealSpeak™ is not installed, a very basic text-to-speech engine will be available. Q. What languages are supported with RealSpeak™? A. IMD currently converts all messages to American English. A number of additional languages will be added to future 2002 IMD product releases. |
